INTRODUCTION
The Bronko Belt RTI is a new, resistance training device for hockey players which is worn on-ice during practice to help players develop hockey-specific strength, speed and endurance. The belt allows you to add training weight to your body mass, forcing your muscles to work harder during drills, causing them to adapt and grow over time. The patent pending design offers a combination of features tailored specifically to the needs of hockey players. Special consideration has been given to the high-speed, high-intensity, full-contact nature of the game and as a result the belt is able to provide hockey players with the benefits of resistance training in a sport-specific manner without compromising the player's performance, comfort or safety. Listed below are some of the key features of the belt.
Even weight distribution around your center of gravity. The belt positions the training weight around your center of gravity so your balance, range of motion and skating stride won't be negatively affected while you train. This allows you to improve skating power without compromising skating technique. Additionally, by positioning the weight around your center of gravity, and not on your back or extremities, the belt helps you avoid unnecessary strain on your lower back and core muscles reducing the risk of injury.
Placement on the hips leaves your hands free. You can do almost any drill while wearing the belt because it doesn't interfere with your shooting, stickhandling or passing. This means you can wear the belt during a normal practice including during drills which simulate game situations.
Sure-fit fastening system locks the weight packs in place. The unique fastening system locks the weight packs in place on the waist belt and prevents them from sagging or otherwise moving while you play. The system also allows you to easily adjust the positioning of the weight packs on your hips so they fit comfortably and don't restrict your range of motion.
Form-fitting weight packs. The curved, form-fitting weight packs of the Bronko Belt RTI hug your hips snugly on top of your pants to achieve as low a profile as possible. The weight packs expand or contract according to the amount of training weight you're using to ensure that the training weight can't move within the weight packs while you're skating. There is no extra fabric left over to catch on sticks, other players or the boards.
The belt works with your pants to minimize the risk of injury. The belt is designed so if you are checked into the boards or fall on the ice the force of the impact is transferred to the protective padding in your pants. Proper sizing is required to achieve proper protection. The belt is not intended as an aid in developing body checking skills and has not been designed to protect against repeated heavy contact. It is therefore not recommended to use the belt during drills which focus substantially on body contact. Injury may result if the belt is not used as directed.
Angled orientation of the weight packs. The strap on each weight pack has been attached at an angle to more comfortably fit over your hockey pants and ensure you have full range of motion while skating.
Variable training weight. You can select the amount of training weight you want to use depending on your fitness level and training goals.
Quick, easy to wear. You can put the belt on (or take it off) in seconds so you can stay focused on practice and not on the belt. Choose which drills to wear the belt for and take it off for the others. You could also choose, for example, to wear the belt for the first three reps of a drill and then take it off for the last rep.
Fold-away handles. Each weight pack comes with a convenient fold-away handle that helps you carry the belt when not wearing it.
High quality construction and heavy-duty materials. Each Bronko Belt RTI is proudly hand crafted in Canada using high quality fabrics and plastics to ensure durability.
