We focus on the individual skating and puck skills all good defencemen possess and then teach players to use these skills effectively in game situations. 8 hours of defence-specific, on-ice instruction.
Bronko Defenceman Camp August 2024
Vic Johnston Arena, Streetsville
August 12th-15th 2024
Schedule
SESSION 1: 9-11am (2014-2016)
SESSION 2: 11am-1pm (2010-2013)
Program includes:
8 hours on-ice instruction (2hr/day)
Bronko practice jersey
Approx 24 skaters on ice (4.5 : 1 player/instructor ratio)
During the first hour each day we'll work on the individual skating and puck skills required to play the position effectively, including efficient skating (forwards, backwards and in transition), heads up puck control and accurate passing. Players will learn skills needed to be successful at both ends of the ice so they're as effective with the puck as without.
In the second hour players will work on skills and tactics they can use in different situations they'll face routinely during games--shooting from the point under pressure, evading the forecheck, clearing the front of the net, battling along the boards etc-- and have an opportunity to use the skills they've learned against competition and under pressure.
The goal of the camp is to help players become more mobile and confident with the puck so they can make smart plays in their own end and contribute offensively as well.

"Hi Dion, Thanks for guiding the boys through the exciting weekend tournament. It's such a great experience for them. They are so fortunate to have the leadership and inspiration of your skills and coaching style. --Brian
"My daughter enjoyed the camp even though it was two hours of intense drills that she has not seen since last hockey season. She was a bit sore the next day. The defence focused skating drills at the camp were exactly what I was hoping to be taught to my daughter. Thanks for an excellent camp."
"Hi Dion... I wanted to thank you for the coaching with [my son] on the Tue/Thur am sessions. He has really enjoyed them and looks forward to them each morning."
"Both my boys ages 8 and 12 attended the camps. They both had a great week. I particularly liked how the skills were reinforced after each session with the instructors coming into the change rooms and quizzing the kids and performing demonstrations on what was covered that day on the ice."
