For Players
Being a strong skater isn’t the only quality that great players possess but it’s certainly a critical one. Improving your acceleration, agility and stability on the ice can have a tremendous impact on the results you get during game play. The Bronko Belt is a new tool that a growing number of players in Canada and the US are using to improve their on-ice performance. It can offer players who use it consistently a wide range of benefits. Players training with the Belt have found it can help: To improve the single leg strength you need to reach and maintain the deep knee bend required for powerful strides. This is important if you want to maintain the correct skating posture longer into each shift.
To develop coordinated power through your lower body and core that can be used to produce explosive acceleration and agility. Resisted sprints are used off-ice to develop power. The Belt allows you to do this type of training on the ice so you train to be powerful while executing the movement patterns you'll need during a game: quick stops and starts, tight turns and rapid transitions from forwards to backwards. To improve your balance and stability on the ice by forcing you to use your core and stabilizer muscles each time you move laterally or change direction. The Belt gives your core a workout that is noticeable as soon as you remove the Belt. To develop better conditioned athletes by raising the intensity of drills. Anaerobic conditioning requires intenstiy and the Belt helps push you while you're wearing it. Remove the Belt and continue your training at maximum speed with a lighter-than-air sensation in your legs.
Most players comment that you forget you’re wearing the Belt during practice because you have the freedom to skate and handle the puck normally. The amount of training weight is adjustable and so is the fit of the Belt so you can customize the Belt to your body, your gear and your goals. Depending on the level you play at, the number of games you play and the length of your season, you may use the Belt for different purposes during different phases of the season. In the off-season we use the Belt with players to help with technique and speed development. In pre-season and the early part of the season it's often used for conditioning. Later in the season it's used with little or no weight as part of a core maintenance program and/or prehab to help prevent injuries. The girdle effect of wearing the Belt can give your core a workout without any training weight at all.
The Belt can also be used by players coming back from an injury or by players who are actively practicing with their team but waiting for a chance to crack the lineup. The Belt is easy to use, fully customizable and allows players the freedom to perform the full range of skating and puck handling skills. It's a simple and effective tool that can be used in a variety of ways to positively impact your on-ice performance.

"We have our entire organization using the Bronko Belt this year. Paired with a good skills development program it'll really help the kids with their acceleration and agility. We think it's a tremendous way, at a reasonable cost, to help further [our players'] development."

“I have really enjoyed the Bronko belt. My top athletes are always looking for ways to be pushed. I’ve tried using weighted jackets, wrist weights but nothing compares to the Bronko Belt. I feel with its proportional weighting, goalies get the full advantage of training with more weight. I develop goalies at all levels. I’ve worked with many pro goalies. I am always looking for ways to gain a competitive advantage for Goaltender development. The Bronko Belt is certainly a product that will push my athletes to becoming quicker and more agile. I highly recommend this product.”
“The nice thing about the Bronko belts is you do not have to be a teen to use them. We've been using them with our 11yr old (2001) AAA team. We use them for approximately 20 minutes at the start of each practice and continue to see great improvement in their skating strength, agility and endurance. The belt is such a simple and effective tool, I think players at all levels and ages would benefit from training with them.”
"Would I recommend the Bronko belt? Absolutely. Coaches/programs spend thousands of dollars on bungee systems, passing trainers, weighted pucks, as well as "the next great thing." All take up time/space on the ice when using them. The Bronko belt does not. Personally, with the Bronko belt, I've found I can have uptempo edge specific sessions in 50 minutes of ice time rather than our normal 90 minutes without the belts. I find we spend much less ice time for conditioning drills when using the belts."
"In the early part of last season, the coaching staff made a decision to purchase Bronko Belts... [We] used the Bronko Belts for 30 minutes during the beginning of one practice per week from about October onwards... The coaching staff noticed an overall improvement in every player’s skating ability and endurance... [Our] opponent’s coaches and parents frequently commented on how fast our entire team was, and how good our players' endurance was to still be skating so well in the latter part of the game... We are very confident that using the Bronko Belts played a major role in [our] success, and the Bantam AA team and PeeWee teams at our club are now using the Bronko Belts for the entire season."
